Lighting Efficiency Upgrades
Four reasons you should consider lighting retrofit from Dahl’s Valley Electric:
- Greater efficiency: Lighting can account for up to 40% of your total electric bill. Reducing the power consumed for lighting directly reduces your bill. For example, a typical 400w Metal Halide high-bay light can be replaced with T8 fluorescent high-bay, which has a rating of only 192 watts.
- Greater worker productivity: Increased lighting makes it easier for your employee’s to perform their tasks.
- Grant and rebate programs: In the Puget Sound Energy (PSE) region, there are a number of grant and rebate programs available to help you increase your lighting efficiency. PSE can pay for up to 50% of your project costs, greatly reducing your payback time. See Efficiency Programs & Rebates: Efficiency programs for more information on a rebate or grant program that suits your needs.
- Removes potentially hazardous chemicals from your workplace: Ballasts manufactured prior to 1979 typically contain Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB’s) in both the capacitor and as a potting material in the ballast. If your facility was built prior to 1979 and/or has not had a complete lighting retrofit since 1979, then you have a high likelihood of having ballasts containing PCB’s.
